The council or the TIRZ recently awarded a schematic-design contract for a downtown parking garage to Fishbeck of Dallas, staff said; only the Phase 1 design is currently funded.
"We estimate the construction will be anywhere from 17 to $20,000,000," Michael Quint said, adding the figure is a rough, preliminary estimate that may change as design progresses. Staff said the garage is planned for 300 to 600 spaces and up to five stories, with final scale and appearance to be refined by the schematic study.
Quint said schematic design work will produce preliminary concepts staff can share with the council and public. He cautioned that construction financing and the final cost will depend on design decisions and market conditions.
