General Registrar Lisa W. McDonald reported that the Merlin system had been updated by the vendor and that OVO and OVI devices had been L&A tested prior to the April special election. She outlined upcoming L&A testing dates: CAP machines on Friday, June 12 and precinct machines on Friday, July 24, both starting at 9:00 a.m.
McDonald also reported that the Shenandoah County IT Department worked with the registrar’s office and the vendor to complete the mandatory annual cybersecurity review. The LESS (Local Election Security Standards) Cybersecurity Checklist, Remediation and Acknowledgment were completed and submitted to the Virginia Department of Elections on March 1, April 1 and May 1, as required. She added that staff processed paysheets for dozens of election officers and machine-delivery workers and are preparing receipts for possible reimbursement related to the special election.
