Supervisors re-authorize Redstone paving project, seek materials bids and buy additional mower

The Salem Township Board on March 18 re-authorized the Redstone Paving Corp. contract awarded in 2025 and approved advertising for approximately 1,700 tons of paving material needed to complete the project.
Supervisor Kerry Jobe said last year's award remained valid but the contractor did not pave in December; supervisors reactivated the project so work can proceed on Forbes Road, Orr, Charles and Rosewood. The board noted material bids from last year will sunset at the end of April and authorized a new procurement to lock in supplies.
In separate action the board authorized purchasing a tractor with a boom mower from West Central Equipment at a cost of $39,500. Resident Tom Ridella asked whether the new machine replaces existing equipment and urged testing of Tresco materials—township staff said they can take samples to confirm specification compliance.
