Downtown Association, Chamber outline roles in local tourism and business support

At the March 19 meeting, Kelly O'Malley‑McKee, Executive Director of the Stevenson Downtown Association (SDA), and Angie Martin, Executive Director of the Skamania County Chamber of Commerce, presented a joint update clarifying how their organizations serve the community. O'Malley‑McKee said SDA’s work centers on downtown revitalization through Main Street community activities, beautification and operation of the Stevenson Farmers’ Market, while the Chamber promotes tourism and provides countywide business support.
The presentation distinguished the groups’ scopes so council and residents can better coordinate activities and funding. Angie Martin explained the Chamber’s countywide services and how those efforts complement SDA’s downtown focus. The council and staff discussed lodging-tax funding use, including a consent agenda item to approve $10,000 in TAC funding for a CAT transportation bus to support visitor access.
