The council heard proposed updates to the city’s driveway standards on March 19 intended to reflect current engineering practice and larger modern vehicles. Public Works Director Cody Rosander said the changes would increase the approach width cap from 20 to 24 feet and move the city’s design limit to the right‑of‑way; beyond the right‑of‑way, builders or homeowners could expand widths.
A motion to adopt the Driveway Standards Resolution was made by Councilmember Dave Cox but received no second. City Attorney Robert Muth said, in response, that he would add the resolution to the April consent agenda so council members would have additional time to review the newly drafted language. Staff also noted a diagram will be included to clarify the design standard.
