Commission approves grants, proclamations and a special-event road closure
Summary

The Commission approved several routine administrative and ceremonial items during the March 24 meeting.
Unfinished-business approvals included a Grant Agreement Amendment No. 1 (Certified Local Government funding passthrough, Agreement MT-25-010) and the Certified Local Government Grant Application for the May 1, 2026–April 31, 2027 grant period. The Commission also approved "Keep Kids Reading" grants for summer reading programs; Commissioner Beaudette noted the program helps prevent summer learning loss and said the grants are valuable for local children.
Chair Kevin Hart read into the record proclamations recognizing Fair Housing Month, National Dispatchers' Week and Arbor Day; each proclamation was approved by unanimous vote. The Commission accepted the resignation of Parks & Recreation board member Chad Gochanour (term expires April 6, 2026) and approved a special-event road closure for a school fundraiser at the Washoe Theater and Elks Club on April 11, 2026, pending certificate of insurance. CEO Bill Everett and County Attorney Morgan Smith commented in support of the items.
