Commission approves RFP for Stucky Ridge trails in Anaconda Uplands

Following adoption of the Recreation and Trails plan, the Commission approved a 2026 RFP to build several achievable trails on Stucky Ridge (non-motorized multi-use and a pedestrian-only trail) using Natural Resource Damage Program recreation funds.
Planning Director Carl Hamming told commissioners the recently approved Recreation and Trails plan set the stage to spend Natural Resource Damage Program recreation dollars on county-owned uplands. Hamming said the committee identified several trails on Stucky Ridge with fewer land-use constraints than other proposed routes and recommended issuing a Request for Proposals to hire a trailhead and trail builder for summer construction.
CEO Bill Everett praised the planning team and said the work would be an important recreational asset for the county. The Commission authorized publishing the RFP and encouraged staff to coordinate project details and community outreach as design and construction proceed this season.
