Berrien County recognized two 911 telecommunicators at its April 16 Board of Commissioners meeting.
Greg Sanders, Berrien County undersheriff and chair of the county 911 Advisory Committee, presented the award to Berrien County Dispatch Supervisor Cassidie Pointer, citing a July 2025 incident in which Pointer recognized ineffective breathing in an electrocuted patient and directed bystanders to perform CPR. Sanders also acknowledged nominee Kristina Burks for her field response professionalism and leadership.
The presentation noted that the county’s emergency communications centers solicit anonymized peer nominations for the Telecommunicator of the Year designation and that Pointer is a 20‑year veteran of the Berrien County Public Safety Communication Center. The board did not take action on the presentation; it was given as a ceremonial recognition during the meeting.
