Salem Township opens bids for Route 22/119 traffic-signal repairs; two bids recorded

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors opened competitive bids March 17, 2026 for repairs to traffic signals at the Route 22 and Route 119 intersection and recorded two offers. Supervisor Todd Paulich moved to open the bids and specified that each bid must "include furnishing, constructing, installing, removing and testing all equipment, materials and products necessary and as required in the scope of work." Kerry Jobe seconded the motion, and it passed by majority vote after one supervisor was absent for the first vote.

Two bidders were read into the record. Bronder Technical Services submitted a bid of $29,958.26, listing the mast arm and installation at $16,549.13 and characterizing the remainder as mobilization, maintenance and protection, and relocation costs. Bruce-Merrilees Electric submitted a bid of $29,725.00 with a mast-arm and installation line item of $14,000 and similar mobilization and relocation costs for the balance. The board did not award the contract at the March 17 meeting and instead voted to hold award decisions for a scheduled meeting on March 18, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.

The motion language and the line-item amounts were entered into the minutes for the project, which notes that all work is to be performed within public rights-of-way and that any work outside those rights-of-way is the contractor's responsibility to coordinate with private property owners. The board also recorded the requirement that bids include furnishing, installation and testing of equipment as part of the scope.
