Salem Township opens tractor bid, delays award until March 18

Resident Eric Hageder asked whether the township planned to trade in its existing tractor. Supervisor Bob Zundel said the township would remove the boom from the existing unit and repurpose that tractor. Supervisor Todd Paulich said the board had discussed using the PennDOT-style folding mower but that “a lot of our roads it won't work on,” and the board voted unanimously to delay awarding the purchase until the regular meeting on March 18 to allow for inspection and follow-up.
The board recorded no other bids. The postponement gives supervisors time to determine whether the West Central Equipment bid includes a compatible boom mower and whether the township's existing equipment should be traded, repurposed or retained.
