Director says staffing pipeline is strong; budget constraints may limit new services

Jennifer, the library director, told trustees she is pleased with the candidate pool for open positions and asked the board to help spotlight staff work as priorities are assessed. "We have good candidates for both positions, the specialist and the children's librarian," she said, adding that candidates bring "new energy" to the team.
Jennifer said the library will enter the new budget year in July with a recommendation to keep the municipal budget flat; she warned that means staff will need to prioritize and may be unable to pursue some initiatives without additional support from the foundation or friends. "In order for us to open on Sunday and get money for that, that we were keeping a flat budget," she said, noting staff will "have to take a breath and figure out how to do this." Trustees offered to help amplify staff accomplishments and review budget trade-offs at upcoming meetings.
