Anne presented the foundation report and told trustees the foundation sent about 300 appeal letters; "so far, Penny told me they've gotten $1,800," she said. Trustees discussed whether to approve only the new nominees or the entire slate; Anne moved to approve the slate and the motion was seconded and carried. Board members praised the foundation's volunteer recruitment work: "She just worked her **** off and got all these people," one trustee said, commending the recruitment committee's results.
Trustees also noted the foundation is funding summer reading bags and other materials that supplement the library's municipal budget. The board asked staff and foundation leaders to coordinate how the slate and foundation communications will be shared publicly, including posting on the foundation and library web pages and providing content for the next newsletter.
