Staff introduced a vendor demo of an AI-driven video engagement platform called 'Rept' that combines short video messages from leaders with AI-driven answers to frequently asked questions. The vendor described the tool as a way to "humanize local government" and to provide scripted video responses and automated answers for routine resident queries.
"Rept, short for represented. It's a video engagement platform, that we built really with the with 1 main goal, which is to humanize local government," a presenter said, explaining that the platform can surface AI-based responses to simple questions and video responses from officials for more complex topics. The vendor offered a pilot pricing model: three months with the first month free and $1,000 per month thereafter.
Council members raised management and cost-benefit questions: who would manage content, whether the city’s existing frequently asked questions already cover routine queries, how success would be measured (clicks, usage), and whether the product would meaningfully reduce staff time. Staff said the platform includes analytics and that they would follow up with samples and references from other cities where the product is deployed.
No procurement decision was made at the work session; staff said they would gather additional references, sample metrics and costs and return with more information for council consideration.
