Lake Hallie police report: new officer hire, $3,201 asset share, and July stabbing arrest

The Village of Lake Hallie Police Commission chose James Barker as a new full‑time officer; Barker is currently from Rockford, Illinois and works for the Veterans Administration as a police officer and is scheduled to start with the department on Aug. 25, 2025.
The Police Department reported it received a check for $3,201 from the West Central Drug Task Force tied to a November 2022 seizure of more than 20 grams of fentanyl; according to the minutes the funds "can be used to purchase items for the Police Department." Chief Edward Orgon and officers also reported community event support at Hallie Youth Day and Freedom Fest and a vehicle repair costing $826.45 for the 2021 Ford Interceptor.
The department briefed the board on a July 11, 2025 incident in which a suspect allegedly stabbed a juvenile victim multiple times; officers said the suspect fled and was later arrested near the Lake Hallie Golf Course by Eau Claire and Chippewa County deputies. The minutes list charges including Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, Substantial Battery, Child Abuse with Intent to Cause Harm, Use of Deadly Weapon, and Disorderly Conduct.
