The Selectboard discussed recent road repairs and tree‑trimming work and agreed to pursue a Road Commission staffed by volunteers rather than a single Road Commissioner.
Chair Peter Brzozowy reported that road contractor Rusty Spaulding patched holes on East Shore Road, completed seawall work near the Brusca residence and continued work in the stump dump. Board members noted poplar roots near West Shore Road that could damage the seawall. Richards Tree Service completed additional trimming near New Road and Quarry Road to help with winter snow removal, and resident volunteer Bruce Noble described ongoing voluntary trimming island‑wide and a request for help with chipping debris.
Selectboard members discussed creating a Road Commission initially staffed by two to three volunteers with one member handling administrative tasks. Joe Deller will prepare an overview for public review before recruiting candidates. The board also expects scope-of-work drafts for FY2025 Grants-in-Aid and the FY2026 Better Roads grant from Northwest Regional Planning Commission collaboration.
