A public hearing earlier in the meeting had been opened by City Clerk Emily J. McConville on a proposed annexation described in those minutes as 342 E IL ST Route 34; no members of the public spoke at that hearing and McConville closed the hearing. The council’s action at this meeting adopted the ordinance for the parcel referenced as 340 E. IL State Route 34. Mayor David W. Boelk and council members did not record additional public comments on the annexation during the regular session.
The ordinance takes immediate municipal effect consistent with the city’s land‑use procedures; the clerk and city attorney noted title work and closings are being completed in the coming weeks. Any administrative steps required for zoning and permits will proceed under the city’s normal review process.
