Commission pauses Master Plan work, sets subcommittee meeting on storage and plans data-center hearing after staffing hire

During Old Business the commission received updates on several ongoing matters. Staff said the subcommittee had not yet met and scheduled June 15 to begin discussing Zoning Ordinance amendments related to storage facilities in the A-2 district. Chairperson Jan Motz said the Planning Commission will defer development of a new Master Plan until a full-time planner is in place in the Planning and Zoning office.
Interim Zoning Director Lynn Wilson recommended scheduling an additional public hearing on data centers in response to public interest, but the commission discussed waiting until a full-time planner is hired before holding hearings or drafting ordinances on that topic. The discussion recorded a desire to align significant ordinance work with stable staffing.
