The Stevenson-Carson School District Board on Jan. 29 approved accepting a donation from the Oliva family, to be processed through SCEF, to support library services. Superintendent Ingrid Colvard said the family has donated previously and would help by funding a temporary librarian position; the donation amount was described as "up to $50,000." The board motion to accept the donation was made by Lisa Birney, seconded by Judi King, and carried.
Colvard said the district has offered the position first to staff on the RIF list and would prefer a candidate with a Library Media credential but noted it could also be a certified teacher. The donation is intended to increase library capacity and the district did not disclose an exact disbursement schedule at the meeting.
