Wayne County to commission yearlong water and sewer infrastructure study under FAST NY support

Economic Development Director Brian Pincelli said the County is contracting MRB Group for a comprehensive water and sewer infrastructure study, expected to take about one year, to map pipes, pump stations and capacities and plan phased capacity expansion to meet developer requests and future demand.
The Wayne County Economic Development and Planning Committee on March 4 was briefed on a planned comprehensive water and sewer infrastructure study that county staff expect will take about one year to complete under a contract with MRB Group.
Brian Pincelli, Director of Economic Development and Planning, said the study will identify locations of pipes, treatment facilities, pump stations and system capacities to help the County plan where and how capacity can be expanded over time. He said some prospective development projects request very large capacity—"often two million gallons or more"—and the study will help demonstrate how the County could meet such demand in phases. Pincelli also noted the County has leveraged support through Empire State Development’s FAST NY program to help prepare shovel-ready sites.
Supervisor Barry VanNostrand asked whether mapping from the study would be added to the County GIS; Pincelli said he was not certain whether the data would be publicly accessible but that it would be available at minimum for internal County use. The committee did not take a formal vote on the study contract during the meeting; Pincelli said the County is entering into a contract with MRB Group to conduct the work.
