Superintendent Ingrid Colvard told the board on Oct. 23 that the District’s Oath of Office form (District Director Oath form 1111) has been updated to reflect new language required under RCW 28A.343.360, and warned directors cannot be seated without taking the updated oath.
Colvard described a Horizons Advising partnership funded by a competitive Gates Foundation grant that supports post‑high‑school planning and pays for a College and Career Readiness Advisor (Lily Painter) in the district. She also proposed convening a calendar committee to draft school year calendars for the next three years and suggested modeling the district’s Strategic Plan and Portrait of a Graduate after Oak Harbor Public School District’s approach, noting Oak Harbor used community listening sessions and measurable goals.
Board members were encouraged to provide feedback: Chair Jeff Wickersham emphasized he wanted a usable plan rather than a document that “sits on a shelf.”
