Rogers County commissioners on May 18 unanimously approved a zoning change for a Claremore parcel sought by McGuire Brothers, LLC, amending the applicant's original request. The board voted to rezone the NW/4 of the NW/4 (Government Lot 1) of Section 31, Township 22 North, Range 15 East from AG (Agriculture) to RS-25 (Residential Single-Family Medium District) after the mover proposed and the board accepted an amendment to lower the initial RS-20 request to RS-25.
Commissioner Steve Hendrix moved "to amend requested zoning from RS-20 to RS-25 and approve," a motion seconded by Commissioner Dan DeLozier. Roll-call votes were DeLozier-aye, Hendrix-aye and Brown-aye; the motion carried. The planning commission had recommended denial by a 3-2 vote prior to the BOCC's action. The minutes record that the rezoning is intended to allow a single-family residential subdivision, contingent on the Board's approval.
The item had been tabled at the May 11, 2026 meeting for further review and returned to the agenda May 18 for a final decision. The transcript does not record additional conditions or a finalized subdivision plat tied to this rezoning; any final plat or subdivision approvals remain subject to separate review and approval processes.
