County officials said IU Health also proposed a two‑ambulance option with an estimated cost around $500,000, including a dedicated emergency unit and a transport unit, while Marion Health indicated it would require a local station be provided in the county. County staff have been negotiating ambulance service since August and confirmed they had checked with Heartland, Wells and Jay County services but found no local provider willing to base an ambulance in Montpelier. The commissioners recorded the motion as approved 3–0.
