The Blackford County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 20 to donate $3,500 to a Hartford City food pantry to cover administrative costs for a program that will run from November through Christmas. Mayor Dan Eckstein told the board the pantry will require about $3,500 per month to maintain the building during the 60‑day period; Commissioner Dan Borgenheimer moved to approve the donation, and Commissioner Laura Coons seconded. The vote was 3–0.
The board did not attach additional conditions to the gift. County officials did not provide a fuller budget or breakdown of the $3,500 in meeting remarks, and said no further action is required beyond the appropriation approved at the meeting.
