Cornell Cooperative Extension outlines fair-week events and new program grants

Sandi Bastedo of Cornell Cooperative Extension told the committee the county's 4-H program will be active at the county fair this week, with project judging concluded and exhibits on display. She said CCE Day at the fair is Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. and that the Finger Lakes Grape Program holds its last tailgate meeting in Yates County on July 7.
Bastedo detailed newly secured funding: a $25,000 private-foundation award to support a part-time nutrition educator shared with Steuben County; an $8,500 grant for 4-H art programming; and $5,000 for animal-science resources. She said the Legislative Brunch is scheduled for Sept. 9 and that several outreach and youth-development workshops are planned for the summer and fall. The committee accepted the report as information.
