The Isle La Motte Selectboard on Dec. 18 approved multiple payroll and payable warrants and directed the Trustees of Public Funds to consider short‑term investment options while planning for probable town cash needs next spring.
The board approved tax refunds of $8,379.72, a payroll transfer of $1,296.93 for federal and Vermont tax withholdings, payroll totaling $5,484.61, and payables of $39,873.65 and $13,359.35. All motions passed by voice vote.
Trustees of Public Funds outlined options for investing $179,576.38 they hold and discussed offering some funds to the town rather than the town securing a third‑party line of credit for anticipated late‑spring and summer 2025 cash needs. The Selectboard asked the Treasurer to provide a history and forecast of cash requirements that the Trustees can use to guide investments.
Chair Peter Brzozowy moved that the town pay off the outstanding LaBombard lots loan balance of $9,726.11 with interest no later than Dec. 15, 2025; the motion was seconded by Mary‑Catherine Graziano and carried unanimously. The motion establishes a target payoff date and directs staff to budget accordingly.
The board also noted that a revised dog ordinance approved in October is now in effect; among the changes are higher fines and shifting the Animal Control Officer reimbursement to dog owners.
The Selectboard will review the Treasurer's cash forecast and the Trustees' proposed investment plan in a future meeting to align liquidity and investment choices.
