Linda Stevenson said the street is only about 14 feet wide in places and described repeated mirror strikes and drivers mounting the sidewalk. City manager and safety staff warned that reversing Dixon would likely require removing parking (an estimated loss of about 50 feet of space near a corner) to ensure fire apparatus can make turns, and that some traffic might shift to Hammond or other streets without complementary measures. The manager said funds are available to launch a formal transportation study, but members agreed to take immediate action for resident safety and treat the measure as a pilot with ITC/staff study to follow.
Council passed the motion to reverse Dixon Street by majority vote and asked staff to monitor and report back.
