Tonasket presents CAP 'Tiger Way' store, plans commercial kitchen and shower to support job readiness

Alisa Weddle, a secondary special education teacher, presented the Community Access Program (CAP) Tiger Way Store project and thanked supporters for the program. She said students and staff collaborated to establish a store that will operate during the summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The presentation noted interest from other districts: the mayor of Omak has expressed interest in adopting a similar model.
MTSS Director Kristi Krieg described complementary Tiger Way expansions: the district is working with maintenance and using the small works roster to develop a commercial kitchen for culinary instruction and plans to install a shower facility to support job readiness for students who may lack such amenities at home. Krieg also tied the initiatives to increased SBA participation and potential State and Federal resource funding.
