Appeals board approves Burke/Brook United Methodist Church addition with variances

The church’s consultant, Daniel Park of Earthworks Group, told the board the site lost land when Highway 707 was built and that meeting overlay sidewalk and facade requirements would reduce parking the church needs. Pastor Deborah Patterson and other church members described a long history of community service and asked the board to allow the addition to accommodate growth. The board approved the requested variances with staff-recommended conditions and encouraged the congregation to handle landscape improvements internally where feasible.
Support letters from nearby congregations were included in the packet; no sustained opposition appeared at the hearing.
