The Horry County Zoning Board of Appeals approved variances Tuesday for structures at 3671 Highway 66 in Loris, allowing reduced side and rear setbacks for a 12-by-20-foot shed, a pool enclosure and a pool equipment building on a 0.373-acre lot.
Applicant Roger L. Williams told the board he installed drainage lines after a neighbor’s farm altered a ditch and said the existing shed and pool structures predate the current house rebuild. Staff told the board the parcel does not meet the minimum 1-acre lot size for the district and recommended that the applicant be required to permit the existing structures and comply with standard conditions.
A neighboring property owner, Scott Sosa, spoke in support of relocating the shed as proposed and said the change resolved a previous encroachment. The board moved to approve the request with the staff conditions, and the motion carried.
