Commissioners approve vehicle trade-ins and a Visitor Promotion Commission replacement; budget planning continues

Sheriff Rick Meyer asked the board to approve trade-ins for three additional patrol vehicles — a 2020 Tahoe, a 2017 Tahoe and a 2015 Tahoe — to supplement three previously approved trade-ins. Commissioners voted 3-0 to approve the request on a motion by Commissioner Drew Storey.
Human Resources director Jeff Hubbard presented a request from the Jackson County Visitor Promotion Commission to approve Monica Chambers as a replacement for Cindy Lucas, who resigned; the commissioners approved the appointment on a motion by Storey, seconded by Stauffer (3-0). Hubbard also updated the board on 2027 budget planning and asked whether to continue funding for data storage; Commissioner Markel recommended proceeding and said the topic would be discussed further with County Council.
Auditor Melissa Gray also presented the April 2026 Fund Balance Report and noted the Spring settlement was scheduled for May 28, 2026. Commissioners recessed until May 19, 2026 and adjourned following routine closing remarks.
