Council hears infrastructure updates: WWTP progress, SR20 sidewalk cleared for bid, Glover Street financing work

Public Works Director Denham updated the council Sept. 10 on several infrastructure projects: wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) construction, SR20 NE sidewalk approval, and planning for Glover Street financing.
Denham said the WWTP construction is progressing well on the short-term timeline and the contractor agreed to provide a long-range schedule by the end of the week so the town can determine whether adjustments are needed to meet commissioning dates. He also reported that WSDOT approved the SR20 NE sidewalk the week before his leave; staff and consultant SCJ will update estimates and bid documents to advertise between mid- and late October for construction in spring 2025.
Denham further said the town is assembling a technical team to pursue financing for the Glover Street project and that the Infrastructure Assistance Coordination Council (IACC) meeting at the end of October will inform grant/loan prospects. He noted the town built in winter downtime to allow indoor work if outdoor work is delayed by weather.
