Fort Myers joins Film Florida and courts potential studio and commercials

City economic development staff told the advisory board the city has joined Film Florida to access site locators and outreach that could bring commercial and film activity to Fort Myers.
"We, have joined Film Florida," staff said, describing early inquiries for a DeWalt tools commercial and interest in a small studio relocating from California. Staff said a virtual meeting Jan. 16 will convene festival partners and that a studio representative will be in town Jan. 21'22 to tour potential spaces downtown.
Members discussed ensuring the city's Film Florida listing is active and requested that staff check dead links and coordinate with the public information officer to preserve recent film-office gains.
