At its Jan. 6 meeting the council approved several budget amendments and grant recognitions aimed at public safety and recovery efforts.
Council accepted a Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) award and approved a related budget amendment of $35,385 to establish the grant for the fiscal year. The council also recognized FDOT grants totaling $160,000 ($80,000 for impaired driving enforcement and $80,000 for aggressive driving enforcement) to fund police overtime and education programs; staff noted no city match was required for those grants. Another small grant amendment recognized FDLE funding for fentanyl eradication and investigator support.
Council also authorized multiple capital and operating budget amendments for parks, public works and fleet procurement as part of routine CIP and grant administration. Each resolution or amendment was moved and adopted by the council during the consent and manager sections of the agenda.
