The City of Fort Myers marked completion of an 11‑well expansion on Jan. 6, a project the utilities director said will improve water pressure and system resilience for years to come.
Richard Moulton, the city’s utilities director, introduced assistant director Jason Chandra, who told the council the expansion added about 50% more production wells and was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. “By completing this expansion, our residents now experience improved water pressure,” Chandra said, adding the city has been over 60 PSI since April of last year.
Staff credited the work to a team of consultants and contractors and said investments planned over the next four years include additional production wells and plant expansions intended to meet demand through 2040. Council members praised the work and asked staff to continue outreach on conservation and customer communication while keeping the system resilient to future storms.
