Sheriff says he now serves full time as commissioners press on staffing and past meeting attendance

Sheriff David Groves provided an update during the county commission meeting on Aug. 5 and answered questions about staffing and prior budget remarks.
Commissioner Myra Frazier said that during April budget review Groves indicated an anticipated salary adjustment related to accepting a new job, and asked whether Groves now considers himself a full-time sheriff. Groves replied that he does. Commissioner Lorie Johnson raised prior comments from resident Toni Speith about the sheriff's attendance at Local Emergency Planning Commission meetings; Groves said he had not been contacted by Speith and that the sheriff's office had been represented at those meetings even if he personally was not present.
