Montgomery County Administrator Michael B. Colbert reviewed the May 2026 financial report with the Board of County Commissioners, reporting that "General Fund Operating subfund balance is $51.2m," alongside $40.0 million in Budget Stabilization and $21.9 million in Capital Reserve. He said revenues were 2.4% above the current budget and expenses were 2.8% above it.
The report presented line-by-line figures across fund types. The General Fund showed year-to-date revenues and expenditures with a 44.1%–44.5% spending rate against budgeted amounts. Colbert walked commissioners through key subfunds (incentive to save, capital reserve, and targeted programs) and highlighted that first-half property tax collections were settled in April. Commissioners reviewed the report but the minutes do not record a formal vote or further directive.
The presentation also included a multi-page fund-by-fund appendix with detailed balances, percentages collected, and notes on fund health across Special Revenue, Debt Service, Enterprise, Internal Service, and Trust & Agency funds. The county will continue monthly monitoring and flagged several funds for closer oversight during the second half of the fiscal year.
