Committee authorizes piggyback of Syracuse City School District fleet contract through June 2027

Chris Brewer recommended that the county piggyback on the Syracuse City School District contract for Enterprise Fleet Management Services through June 30, 2027, with the option of two additional one‑year renewals. Brewer said the services and program remain unchanged; the county is changing its procurement route because the State Comptroller’s auditors expressed concern about using private cooperative purchasing vehicles such as SourceWell.
Jack Wheeler said there is no state law prohibiting use of SourceWell, but the State Comptroller audit preferred avoiding certain private cooperative vehicles; the county is moving toward piggyback or direct bidding out of ‘‘an abundance of caution.’’ The committee voted 4-0 to authorize the piggyback arrangement.
Staff will proceed with the Syracuse City School District contract terms and coordinate implementation through June 2027, with procurement and contract paperwork to follow.
