Officials flag rising AOT referrals and explore adding northern ACT team; RFA planned

Steuben County officials told the Community Services Board on April 7 that assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) referrals are increasing while the agency lacks staff capacity to manage large caseloads. "The numbers of AOT referrals are rising," Ms. Gramley said, and staff are working with EPC and the referrals they send.
Gramley and Deputy DCS Auralee Jefferds said they are exploring creating an ACT team for the northern part of the county, possibly in partnership with Livingston or Chemung counties, and would issue an RFA to solicit applicants. They said their preference would be to route the team through Community Services using grant funding but that current internal staffing shortages make immediate implementation difficult; Gramley and Jefferds plan to meet with OMH Commissioner Sullivan and Western Regional Representative Marcello to discuss rural county challenges.
