An unnamed Hillside presenter told the Steuben County Community Services Board on April 7 that Youth Assertive Community Treatment (Youth ACT), an OMH program, provides intensive in‑home support for children ages 10–21 returning from high‑intensity services. "The team will meet with the family within 7 days of the referral and complete screens and make an admission decision," the presenter said.
The presenter gave specific program figures: Youth ACT covers Chemung and Steuben counties with a total of 36 slots; the team had 12 unduplicated referrals from Steuben County and admitted nine youth. Of the three not admitted, two families declined services and one referral was deemed more appropriate for Adult ACT. The presenter said two youth were readmitted within three months of discharge and that the team is currently serving six youth from Steuben County. Referrals are routed through the County SPOA and the service is voluntary, not court ordered. The presenter also noted that staffing shortages have caused pauses in new referrals.
