Atlantic Beach historic-district nomination headed to state review board on Nov. 15

Staff reported that the Atlantic Beach Historic District nomination has completed the county-level survey work and is now with the state review board for consideration. "We have a meeting on November 15 with the state to designate Atlantic Beach as a historic district," staff said, and asked commissioners to attend if possible.
Staff said consultants completed the survey, community meetings were held and a historian compiled the documentation that was submitted for the state's review. Commissioners acknowledged the work and encouraged local residents and representatives from Atlantic Beach to attend the state meeting and the town's own council meeting when appropriate.
If the state board approves the nomination on Nov. 15, the designation would move the Atlantic Beach area forward in state historic recognition processes. Staff asked commissioners to note the date and offered to circulate meeting details and materials in advance.
