Nicole Stetzer presented takeoffs based on continuing contracts and said the island takeoff estimate is approximately "$53,000." The recommended approach places one median near the north end of the three-lane section and another at the south approach to discourage speeding from both directions. Council members asked detailed questions about driveway access, turn lanes and whether a single median would suffice; staff said two medians were recommended by the traffic study because there was no single effective location in the center of the zone.
Staff said construction should happen in the off-season and that some landscape work might be done in-house while curb work would require contractors and maintenance-of-traffic planning. The council signaled general support for moving forward with the recommended medians.
