Sydney & Berne Davis Art Center reports $1.6M in revenue, cites $5.8M visitor spending

Interim Executive Director Devin Parker told the Community Redevelopment Agency on the topic of the art center’s annual summary that the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center’s revenues totaled “almost $1,600,000” in the past fiscal year while expenditures were about $1,500,000.
Parker said the organization draws earned revenue from beverage sales, facility rentals and ticket sales and also receives grant income. He called the center a major economic driver for downtown Fort Myers, citing a recent Americans for the Arts “Arts and Economic Prosperity” calculation: “Our audience spent over $5,800,000 last year, excluding the cost of admissions,” Parker said, describing that spending as money local businesses receive from attendees for food, lodging and retail.
Parker noted federal assistance following Hurricane Ian allowed the center to replace concert seating that had been damaged by 62 inches of floodwater, and he said that capital work helped the venue attract higher‑caliber performers. He also described ongoing education and community programs — rooftop weekly events, summer camps, master classes and school partnerships with the Lee County School District — intended to expand local participation.
The CRA did not take a formal vote on the presentation. Parker closed by inviting commissioners to upcoming season events and offered tickets through staff for members who want to attend.
