Deputy Sheriff Terry Clugston and Chief Deputy Nate Jones informed the board that Columbus Fire Chief Steven Burton wants to start a medical response unit to respond when ambulances are unavailable. Clugston said the sheriff's office would "like to donate the vehicle to the fire department to be used for this purpose."
Commissioners indicated they were agreeable to the donation "if it is allowable by law." County Counselor Jake Conard was asked to investigate legal permissibility before any transfer occurs; the board took no formal action during the session.
