Commissioners approve BG Consultants bridge inspection contract, 3-0

The Ottawa County commissioners voted to accept a bridge inspection contract with BG Consultants for $45,175.00 on Dec. 22. Public Works Director Chris Smith told commissioners the contract covers 251 bridges at $175 per bridge and includes $1,250.00 for a critical bridge; Commissioner Duane Morris moved to accept the contract and Commissioner Scott Mortimer seconded, and the motion passed 3-0.
Smith also updated the board on Road & Bridge operations: community service workers in the shop, roof concerns for the shop building, mowing, rock spreading, and ditch work. He said he had spoken with Facilities Director Keith Coleman and that he wants clarity on where townships are placing rock used for roads.
