Road and Bridge Supervisor Cody Zook updated the Cherokee County Board on Aug. 12 that the southeast Wyandotte bridge reopened last Thursday but that some ditching work missed in the original design will need to be completed.
Zook told the board that Road and Bridge crews will attend a half-day training session the following morning and that he is "considering percentage-based raises for Road and Bridge staff depending on the amount available in the budget." Commissioner Myra Frazier said she preferred performance-based raises, a view Commissioner Cory Moates supported.
Commissioner Lorie Johnson requested that rock be added to a muddy stretch near 70th and Clem. The board also recorded a complaint about a collapsing culvert and a mention that Johnson is working with an individual named Dale on a matching grant that could be applied on Old 96. Supervisor Zook said designating a private drive as a minimum maintenance road would require the board to pass a resolution; no decision was reached at the meeting.
