The County approved a request April 21 to purchase a pickup and spray system for the Weed & Pest Department. Supervisor Tim Huber explained cost and timing options and said the department budgeted about $59,000 for the F‑250/F‑350 configuration with the spray system: "That would be for a 300 gallon tank in the back," Huber said when asked about tank size.
Huber told commissioners that the spray system could be procured quickly but that ordering a new pickup today would likely carry a lead time of approximately four to six months: "If we ordered this truck today, it'd be about 6 months before it would arrive," he said. Commissioners discussed whether reduced staff and shared highway staff would allow delaying the purchase until next season; the board approved the F‑350 option with the system after a motion and voice vote.
County staff noted the approved purchase was within the 2026 budget and that equipment and replacement rotations across departments made the purchase operationally feasible. The contract/order timing means the truck is unlikely to be available in time for this year's full spray season, but the spray system could be installed and used on an interim vehicle if needed.
