Lawrence County commissioners on June 23 canvassed the Rimrock Canyon Road District election and adopted an order declaring the district officially incorporated after the election returned one ballot in favor and zero opposed.
The motion to canvass and to approve the Order Declaring Rimrock Canyon Road District Incorporated cited SDCL 31-12A-5.1 and recorded that the election was held June 19, 2026. The order describes the incorporated territory as Lots 1–8 of Rimrock Canyon Subdivision (a portion of the NE1/4NE1/4 of Section 35, Township 3 North, Range 1 East, BHM, Lawrence County) and was signed by Chair Eric Jennings and attested by Auditor Brenda McGruder. The minutes state: "the whole number of ballots cast was one (1), together with the number of One (1) voting for and the number of Zero (0) voting against incorporation."
Commissioner Brandon Flanagan moved to canvass and Commissioner Richard Tysdal seconded; the motion carried unanimously among members present. The order was entered into the county record following the board’s determination that a majority of votes favored incorporation.
