The Brookings County Commission voted May 5 to appoint Deputy Finance Officer Jennifer Beller as Interim Finance Officer through Jan. 5, 2027 and set the salary at Wage Grade 13, Step 1 ($41.83 per hour). The motion was made by Commissioner VanderWal, seconded by Commissioner Doug Post, and carried unanimously.
In the same session the board approved amended Bylaws, Rules of Procedure, and Policies for Brookings County after a staff presentation by Commission Department Director Stacy Steffensen. The amendments were adopted by roll call vote with all members voting "aye." County staff will proceed with administrative steps required to implement the personnel appointment and amended governance documents.
