Highway Superintendent Brian Gustad told the commission that his crew finished the chip-seal project on roads south of Sinai and will next work on County Road 1 north of Highway 14. Gustad said the crew performed additional patching on 214th Street heading into Aurora but added that the patching "unfortunately all that was done was speed up traffic." He said he and Sheriff Marty Stanwick had discussed placing additional signage on that road to address speed concerns.
Sheriff Stanwick reported operational numbers and outreach: the jail housed 49 inmates and 84 individuals were participating in the 24/7 sobriety program. Commissioners asked about rumble-strip scheduling; Gustad said the contractor will be notified when work reaches the area. Gustad also explained township grant/structure parameters later in the department head reports, noting structures must have an opening of at least 16 feet and under 20 feet for funding eligibility tied to the county program.
