Josh Fanning, representing Harvest Foods, told the council the company has invested in Royal City and wants to expand the current store by approximately 7,000 square feet. "They have invested in the City in the past and wish to continue to do so by expanding the current store by approximately 7,000 square feet as the town needs a larger store," the minutes record. Fanning said the expansion cannot happen without the old library site and asked the city to sell it to Harvest Foods.
Mayor Piercy acknowledged the public comment and said he would proceed with an appraisal of the property. No formal disposition or sale was approved at the meeting; the council will consider next steps after the appraisal.
